Christie's Birthday

For Christie's birthday we went to see "Thriller" at Kingsbury Hall. It is put on by Odyssey Dance Theater. Before the show starts there are girls and boys dressed as zombies who walk around and scare you outside the building and inside while waiting for the show to start. Abbie got some extra special attention from one of the zombies. She took it well considering that last year she was running away from a zombie. It is a fun Halloween tradition.

Witches Night Out at Gardner Village

We took the kids to Witches Night Out during the day this year. Previous years have been way too cold and sometimes snowy. Olivia dressed in her Tinkerbell costume. Jack refused to wear his giraffe costume. We'll see if he actually wears it on Halloween.

Papa's "new" car

Dad recently drove up to Rigby, ID to pick up his "new" car. He found a 1937 Ford two door sedan that has only 60,000 miles on it. Everything is original. He has lots of plans for it this winter and will likely turn it into one awesome hot rod.

More fun in Ogden

We took Jack and Olivia into Ogden to see more of the horses. We also went to the train museum and had lunch at my favorite Greek restaurant, the Athenian.

Ghost footprints

Jack and Olivia made the cutest ghosts out of their footprints and white paint. Olivia loved it. Jack screamed when we tried to put his feet in the wet paint. After that it turned into a wrestling match.

The world record zucchini (maybe)

I forgot to go out to the garden for a couple of days and when I did I found the biggest zucchini ever!

Farewell

On October 5, 2009 my brother-in-law, Nathan, left for a one year tour in Iraq with his fellow soldiers. His farewell was at Airport #2. We said our goodbyes and watched them fly away in their Blackhawk helicopters. May God bless them all for a safe return.

A fun fall day in Ogden

Color Me Mine opened a studio on historic 25th street in downtown Ogden. I took Olivia there and surprised her with an afternoon of painting. We also met her best friend, Haylie, there with her mom and sister. Olivia decided to paint a princess bank and I painted a cute travel mug for my tea. It was a lot of fun! Afterwards, Olivia wanted to have her picture taken with some of the horses that line 25th Street. Each horse is painted differently and are pretty cool to see.

The Ranch

We went to Star Valley, WY for the 5th year in a row. We had a little R&R away from the hustle and bustle. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed the cooler weather. Olivia found a small snake in front of the cabin. She went fishing in the Salt river with Kelton. We did a little canoeing in the pond above the cabin. We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows. It is so dark up there that you can see the Milkyway! We also did our first annual boat race where we carved out some large zucchini and raced them down a stream. Most of the boats sank, but we learned something and will come back stronger for the 2nd annual boat race next year.

First Day of Kindergarten

Olivia started her first day of Kindergarten on August 31, 2009. She was a little nervous, but did not cry when I dropped her off at school. Her friend, Ryan, who lives on our street is in her class. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Ewing. She has morning kindergarten and gets to come home at 11:30 a.m. for lunch.
